Transport is the largest source of greenhouse gas emissions in Europe, accounting for 29% of the total. Since 1990, emissions from transport have increased by 26%, while other sectors have reduced their emissions. Many corporate and commercial fleets are slow to adopt sustainability measures into their operations, often considering them too difficult or costly. However, our analysis shows that sustainability is not a burden, but a benefit for the transport industry. By prioritizing sustainability, European fleets can save up to €140 billion in fuel costs by reducing idling, optimizing routing, improving vehicle utilization, and alike. These savings can also enhance the competitiveness, resilience, and reputation of the fleets. So, what are we waiting for? Well, achieving these savings is not as easy as it sounds. It requires commitment from drivers, attention from fleet managers, and, above all, cross-industry collaboration. And that’s where you come in. We want to hear from you how you can help us and how we can help you to support fleets in their sustainability journey and make them a reference for industry decarbonization.
